How Do You Feel?

Why do you need to detox?

Unfortunately, feeling lousy has become the “new normal” for many people. We dismiss things like carrying around extra weight, feeling achy, constantly being tired, having no sex drive, and increased risk for disease as natural side effects of aging. A healthy body, used to eating natural foods, needs around four hours to cleanse and detoxify itself from all the waste products of normal metabolism. This is without counting the toxic overload of modern life. Here is a quick list of what you may come in contact with on a daily basis, high fructose corn syrup and other food sweeteners and additives in your soft drinks, breakfast cereal, yogurt, bread bum, salad dressing, candies and much more, residue of pesticides and fungicides on your fruits and vegetables, microplastics in your drinking water and the salt you use to season your foodsh, canola oil and vegetable oil, all of these above-mentioned items contain chemicals that are toxic to the human liver and kidney. The toxins can damage the liver and impact the liver’s detoxification system causing it to malfunction. The liver's ability to digest fat can be impaired by these toxins, causing weight gain and fatty liver disease, which sharply increase risks of developing diabetes, heart diseases, and cancer. The onslaught of toxins may weaken the body's immune system. When this occurs, disease and symptoms will begin to present themselves. Look around and you will see evidence everywhere. Let us look at a few below.

40% of Americans were obese in 2015, a sharp increase from a decade earlier, according to Federal Health Report on March 23, 2018. According to Princeton University's 2010 research and Dr. Robert Lustig, MD , this is a clear sign that liver's function to digest fat is disrupted by overload of toxic chemicals in the body.

The rising obesity rate in American population increases cases of diabetes, heart diseases, and cancer. Center for Disease Control reported that 114 million Americans have diabetes or pre-diabetes, a sharp increase from a decade earlier, and more than 10 times higher than the figures reported in 1984.

According to 2010 study by Princeton University researchers , average American consumes 60 pounds of high fructose corn syrup(HFCS) per person per year because of its widespread adoption as the most-commonly-used sweetener by American food companies. This dreadful sweetener is contaminated with mercury and other harmful chemicals(April 7, 2010, Bodyearth.net), and can be found in thousands of processed food items from salad dressing to yogurt, and from baked goods to boxed dinner, and from snack foods to candy. Ever since 1984, when Coca Cola and Pepsi replaced sugar with high fructose corn syrup, soda has been the number one source of high fructose corn syrup(HFCS) consumption in American diet. Rates of both obesity and diabetes have skyrocketed since widespread use of high fructose corn syrup.

In animal experiments, Princeton University research team has demonstrated that all sweeteners are not equal when it comes to weight gain: Rats with access to high-fructose corn syrup gained significantly more weight than those with access to table sugar, even when their overall caloric intake was the same. In addition to causing significant weight gain in lab animals, long-term consumption of high-fructose corn syrup also led to abnormal increases in body fat, especially in the abdomen, and a rise in circulating blood fats called triglycerides. The researchers say the work sheds light on the factors contributing to obesity trends in the United States.

Independent medical experts have been warning against the dangers of consuming foods containing HFCS in our diet, despite the assertions of the corn industry. Robert Lustig, MD, author of “Fat Chance” and Mark Hyman, MD, author of “Eat Fat and Get Thin” both agree HFCS should be banned. High Fructose Corn Syrup causes extensive damage to the liver, digestive system, and nervous system that sharply increases risks of developing obesity, heart disease, diabetes, cancer and dementia.

On October 23, 2018, various news media agencies around the world have reported a research finding that microplastics have been found in human stool for the first time. CNN suggesting they may be widespread in our food chain. Humans have created 8.3 billion metric tons of plastics since large-scale production of the synthetic materials began in the early 1950s, and most of it now resides in landfills or the natural environment. In recent years, as many Americans are avoiding soda in favor of plastic bottled water. Per capita annual consumption of plastic bottled water has exceeded that of soda in America since 2016. This has become one of the drivers that have accelerated global production of plastics that rose from 2 million metric tons in 1950 to over 400 million metric tons in 2015. A significant percentage of this plastic production is in making disposal products like the single-use plastic water bottle and packaging material. More than half of the plastic put into use has become toxic waste and returned to our environment in less than 3 years. Scientists reports that more than half of the 8 billion plastic waste was produced in the last 13 years.

While this massive plastic production has contributed to our daily lives, it pollutes our food sources and world's major oceans that are critical to sustaining life on earth. According to banthebottle.net, bottled water may be hurting your health. A new study suggests plastic bottles release small amounts of chemicals over long periods of time. The research involved 132 brands of bottled water from 28 countries produced in containers made from polyethylene terephthalate, or PET. Research found that the concentration of certain chemicals, such as antimony, increases the longer the water sits in the plastic bottle. It increases over time because the plastic is leaching chemicals into the water. Antimony is a white metallic element that in small doses can cause nausea, dizziness and depression. In large doses, it can be fatal. Antimony is similar chemically to lead. It is also a potentially toxic trace element. Plastics accumulate in your liver, according to study out of the University of Cincinnati and their toxic effects can ultimately lead to type 2 diabetes. A study published in the Journal of Endocrinology, found that exposure to BPA contributes to metabolic syndrome. The study found exposure to plastics on predisposed offspring led to fatty liver disease.

Toxic plastic waste on land and in the world's major oceans slowly breaks down and disintegrates, it pollutes the world's oceans, the rivers and underground water supply. According to the film, called "A Plastic Ocean," plastic waste is now at such an enormous volume that vast eddies of current-bound plastic trash now spin endlessly in the world’s major oceans. This represents a great risk to marine life, killing birds and fish which mistake our garbage for food.
